The
mission of the Montrose Fire Protection District is to help improve the
quality of life for our citizens by providing prompt, safe, and
efficient response to emergencies with highly trained professional
firefighters and EMS providers.
The Montrose Fire Protection
District (MFPD) proudly protects a population of approximately
25,000 in an area of 186 square miles. MFPD is a combination paid
and volunteer department. MFPD is an independent taxing special district
governed by an elected, five member, Board of Directors.
Montrose Fire Department was
established in 1888. In May of 1946 the Montrose Rural Fire District was
formed. In January of 1978 the Montrose Fire Department merged
with the Rural District to form the current MFPD. To further
improve EMS levels and enhance customer service the MFPD purchased
Montrose Ambulance in 1999.
The MFPD has gone
through a period of unprecedented growth and change. MFPD is now
operating out of two stations, with Station 2 open in May 2007.
The MFPD's team currently consists of 32 career, 4 reserve, 15
volunteer firefighters and one administrative assistant.
The personnel at the MFPD strive to provide
excellent customer service with high expectations for our staff to
be effective, responsive and innovative. |
